On February 25, 2018, a grand New Year Carnival Parade took off from the 44 Avenue d’Ivry and ended on the Boulevard Masséna at the Chinese quarter in the 13th arrondissement, Paris. As one of the oldest parades in the Paris, it has been held in the Chinese quarter for over 30 years. And it is one of the most exciting festive events to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The estimated number of participants in this event is over 100,000, far surpassing crowd expectations.

The Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Association of Paris was also invited to participate in the parade. Volunteers from Guan Yin Citta carefully decorated the float vehicle and it attracted many people’s attention. Attached on both sides of the vehicle were the big banners with the words of the introductions of Master Jun Hong Lu and Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door. Some Buddhist friends and their kids were holding lotus flowers and handwritten signs with words “LOVE, COMPASSION, JOY, EQUANIMITY” to transmit the Buddhism concepts to the public. The festive atmosphere permeated everywhere.

From the moment the parade began, the event booth of Guan Yin Citta has turned into a crowd magnet. It’s noisy and with constant buzz. Many people were drawn in by the books published by Master Jun Hong Lu, which were all distributed for free on site. One of the gems among these books is the series of Buddhism in Plain Terms. Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu goes into further details and expounds the Buddha’s teachings in a context which a contemporary reader can relate to. He uses vivid examples in daily life to create the bond between the readers and Dharma, helping readers understand the world from Buddhist perspectives. All these books cater to the readers with varied interests, aspirations and tastes. The subjects of these books range from health, fengshui, marriage and relationships, to Buddhist philosophy.

In spite of the cold weather, volunteers from Guan Yin Citta upheld the spirit of self-giving and spread positive energy to the public. They prepared delicious vegetarian snacks and gifts for everyone coming over to the booth. Nearly 100 volunteers attended this grand event in Paris. They are grateful to Guan Yin Budhisattva for having such an amazing opportunity to broadly form good affinities with so many people.
